The Fine Print

For Individuals: By submitting payment to join or renew my membership in the Pennsylvania Medical Society, I confirm that my information is accurate and up to date, my medical license is in good standing, and I have not been convicted of a felony in the past five years.

If elected to membership, I agree to uphold the Principles of Medical Ethics of the American Medical Association and abide by the governing documents of my Component Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. I release and hold harmless these organizations and their representatives from liability related to evaluating my application and credentials. I also authorize them to inquire about my qualifications from references and institutions, and I hold them harmless for any information shared in good faith.

For Groups: As a representative of your group practice, by submitting payment for the physicians within your practice to join or renew membership in the Pennsylvania Medical Society, you hereby confirm that all physician information is accurate and up to date, their medical licenses are in good standing, and none have been convicted of a felony in the past five years.

If elected to membership, it is presumed that these physicians agree to uphold the Principles of Medical Ethics of the American Medical Association and abide by the governing documents of my Component Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. The physicians release and hold harmless these organizations and their representatives from liability related to evaluating their application and credentials. You also authorize the above-mentioned organizations to inquire about their qualifications from references and institutions and hold them harmless for any information shared in good faith.

Refund Policy:  The Pennsylvania Medical Society does not provide membership refunds after 7 business days. At no time will any membership refund be provided when the physician has undertaken any PAMED CME course. Adjustments will be made for overpayments or duplicate payments.

The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society:  The Foundation proudly serves as the 501(c)(3) philanthropic affiliate of the Pennsylvania Medical Society. The official registration and financial information of the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling toll-free, within Pennsylvania, 1-800-732-0999. Registration does not imply endorsement.

PAMPAC is the political arm of the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Contributions to PAMPAC are not tax deductible. Contributions to PAMPAC are voluntary and should be written on personal checks or charged to personal credit card accounts. Corporate contributions are prohibited.

2025 - Federal Income Tax:  Professional association dues may be deductible for federal income tax purposes as ordinary and necessary business expenses. The portion of dues allocated to lobbying activities (19% of State Medical Society dues; 5% of Allegheny County Medical Society dues; 1% of Lancaster City & County Medical Society dues) is nondeductible. Dues are not deductible as charitable contributions. Please consult your tax advisor for details. Allotment will be made from dues for the Educational Fund of the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

2024 - Federal Income Tax:  Professional association dues may be deductible for federal income tax purposes as ordinary and necessary business expenses. The portion of dues allocated to lobbying activities (22% of State Medical Society dues; 5% of Allegheny County Medical Society dues; 1% of Lancaster City & County Medical Society dues) is nondeductible. Dues are not deductible as charitable contributions. Please consult your tax advisor for details. Allotment will be made from dues for the Educational Fund of the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

2023 - Federal Income Tax:  Professional association dues may be deductible for federal income tax purposes as ordinary and necessary business expenses. The portion of dues allocated to lobbying activities (21% of State Medical Society dues; 5% of Allegheny County Medical Society dues; 1% of Lancaster City & County Medical Society dues) is nondeductible. 2021 - Federal Income Tax:  Professional association dues may be deductible for federal income tax purposes as ordinary and necessary business expenses. The portion of dues allocated to lobbying activities (26% of State Medical Society dues; 5% of Allegheny County Medical Society dues; 1% of Lancaster County Medical Society dues; 1% Philadelphia County Medical Society dues) is nondeductible. Photo/Video Authorization

By joining or renewing with the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) I understand and assent to the PAMED, including an employee, agent, or independent contractor acting on behalf of the PAMED:

(a) Photographing or recording video of me or otherwise make visual and/or digitized records of my image or likeness;

(b) Using, copying, distributing, performing, displaying, and transmitting all or a portion of the Photographs/Video and any derivative works in any format or medium (including but not limited to, print or electronic publications, multi-media productions, print or electronic communications, and Web sites) for PAMED purposes, including but not limited to recruitment and retention of members;

(c) Revealing my name and identity in descriptive text or commentary in connection with any Permitted Use of the Photographs/Video and any derivative works.

By joining or renewing with the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) I understand and agree that the Photographs/Video and any derivative works will belong exclusively to PAMED and that I am not entitled to any fees, royalties, or other compensation for any Permitted Use of the Photographs or any derivative works.

By joining or renewing with the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) I understand the release of PAMED and its officers and directors, members, employees, agents, and independent contractors from any and all liability that may or could arise from the acts that identified herein, including but not limited to liability for invasion of privacy.
