PAMED kicks off 2025 with a message from our CEO

Last Updated: Jan 3, 2025

A Message from our CEO, Martin Raniowski,MA, FCPP, CAE

We’re excited to kick off the new year at PAMED, and we invite you to join us in continuing our mission to advocate for physicians across the Commonwealth. In 2025, we’re focusing on several key initiatives that will directly benefit you and your practice:

  • Exploring Physician Unions: We’re diving into the topic of physician unions, a key issue for many in our community. Based on your feedback from a recent study, we know you’re interested in learning more. Expect to hear about PAMED’s direction on this important matter in the first quarter of 2025.

  • Addressing Workforce Challenges: Workforce shortages remain a significant challenge for our members. We are collaborating with the Hospital and Healthcare Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) to conduct a comprehensive manpower study. This will help us identify opportunities to unite our voices and create lasting solutions that benefit all physicians and healthcare professionals.

  • ED Overcrowding Task Force: The work of our ED Overcrowding Task Force will come to fruition in 2025. Stakeholder workgroups will soon submit their recommendations to the Department of Health, leading to a final report for Governor Shapiro. We’re optimistic that this initiative, spearheaded by PAMED, will help improve the quality of care and address critical challenges in emergency departments across the state.

  • Medicare Payment Reform: We will continue to work with the American Medical Association (AMA) and other physician specialty organizations to advocate for Congress to implement a statuary increase to Medicare reimbursement. Pennsylvania’s physician practices cannot be constantly asked to absorb increasing costs and inflation, while seeing a cut in their reimbursements.

  • The Physician’s Choice: Aligning Your Medical Career with What Matters: Join Dr. Lynne Lucas-Fehm, our President in 2025, as she explores various practice models and discusses her experiences with private equity.

  • Ongoing CME & Leadership Opportunities: We remain committed to providing valuable Continuing Medical Education (CME) and leadership opportunities to support your professional growth. Additionally, our dedicated staff is always ready to assist with any issues that impact the way you practice medicine.

As we embark on another year, we invite you to continue supporting Pennsylvania’s healthcare community through your membership with PAMED. Together, we’ll make 2025 a year of progress for Pennsylvania’s physicians!
