(Draft) Board Report 9: Resolution 25-207: Healthcare Worker Safety

SUGGESTED BOARD ACTIONS

RECOMMENDATION 1:

The Board of Trustees has decided that Resolution 25-207: Healthcare Worker Safety be amended as follows:

RESOLVED, that the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) research and promote best practice for hospital security, recognizes the importance of expert guidelines and standards to ensure safety of health care workers and others in health care facilities, such as those developed by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety, the American Hospital Association, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and The Joint Commission; and PAMED will ensure that physicians are advised of these guidelines and standards; and be it further

RESOLVED, that PAMED actively engage hospital administrations and state lawmakers to advocate for implementation of these best practices with stakeholders to advocate for legislation that requires hospitals to adopt workplace violence prevention plans consistent with expert guidelines and standards in order to improve the safety of health care workers and others in our hospital facilities.

RECOMMENDATION 2:

The Board of Trustees decided that amended resolution 25-207 be adopted as amended.
