House Liability Reform Legislative Package a Critical Step in Countering Lawsuit Abuse

Last Updated: Oct 10, 2024

Several members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives have announced that they have crafted a package of bills aimed at securing important reforms intended to curb the ongoing problem of civil lawsuit abuse. Those bills include:

  • House Bill 747- Representative Torren Ecker
  • House Bill 2390-Representative Rob Kauffman
  • House Bill 1124- Representative Dawn Keefer

Several of the proposed bills, if enacted, will prove to be of significant benefit to Pennsylvania physicians. Details for the legislative bills can be found on the PCCJR press release

The legislators introduced the bills at a capitol press conference earlier this week. The Pennsylvania Coalition for Civil Justice Reform (PCCJR), an organization that advocates for fairness of our courts in the area of civil litigation issued a press release detailing the proposed litigation. PAMED is a member of PCCJR and partners with PCCJR on issues relevant to Pennsylvania physicians and the quality of healthcare. You may read the PCCJR press release here. Only the proposals related to issues of concern to PAMED are included.
