The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) launches its ‘Facts Not Fear’ campaign to educate the public about vaccines, debunk common myths, and encourage the public to stay current with their vaccinations.
In recent years, vaccine preventable diseases have shown up in cases across Pennsylvania with the PA Department of Health reporting cases of measles as recent as March 2024.
PAMED President Kristen Sandel, MD, FACP, FACC said, “Public controversy around the COVID-19 pandemic did not help widespread hesitation on vaccinations. Physicians in Pennsylvania are worried that vaccine-preventable diseases will continue to spread “
The campaign’s timing aligns with the back-to-school season, emphasizing the importance of children receiving their recommended routine vaccinations.
Dr. Sandel said, “For both adults and children, vaccines are one of the safest preventative tools available to keep you healthy. PAMED’s campaign wants to give the public the facts about vaccinations and how they work and what conversations to have with your physician.”
The “Facts not Fear” campaign will run through the end of the year. For more information visit, www.pamedsoc.org/FactsNotFear.
