The Dose

The Dose is PAMED’s member-exclusive weekly e-newsletter, delivered to your inbox every Thursday. It’s a simple way to get a healthy dose of the hot topics in Pennsylvania medicine.

Each week, you’ll find news and analysis on topics like:

New health care laws and regulations
State licensure requirements & CME opportunities
Reimbursement and payer news, including MACRA-MIPS
Pennsylvania court cases that could impact physicians
How PAMED is advocating in the legislature on behalf of physicians – on issues like prior authorization, telemedicine, and scope of practice

Why am I not getting my email?
There may be several reasons why you are not getting The Dose.
- The email we have on file for you is wrong or outdated.
- You have a general email like info@nameofpractice.com. Unfortunately, we are unable to send emails to general email addresses. We require personal emails like jsmith@practicename.com to send our email communications.
- You marked any one of our PAMED emails as "spam" and are now not receiving any PAMED email communications.
- You unsubscribed from the Dose or previously from our Daily Dose and are now not receiving the newsletter.
- Check your junk/spam folder to see if your Dose emails are in your spam folder. If you are using Outlook or Gmail, make sure the Dose is not going into your "Other" inbox.
- Your company may be blocking our email and not letting it get to your inbox. You can reach out to your IT team and ask to have anything from @pamedsoc.org whitelisted.

Commonwealth Court Strikes Down Exclusion on Medicaid-Funded Abortions

On Monday, the Commonwealth Court struck down the provision of Pennsylvania’s Abortion Control Act that prohibited the use of Medical Assistance (Medicaid) funds to pay for an abortion, except in limited circumstances. The court found the provision violated the Pennsylvania Constitution and enjoined the Commonwealth from enforcing the restriction moving forward.
