PAMED is pleased to offer physician coaching services to Pennsylvania physicians through a collaboration with CBA, Inc. Choose from three packages based on your needs. All services are delivered virtually using technology such as Zoom or another comparable platform for effective and efficient support that provides you with a new set of tools to use in your professional development and with your leadership team.

This service is open to any Pennsylvania physician. Prices vary based on the coaching services selected. PAMED members save up to 25% on coaching services. Physician Coaching Services

Individual Clifton Strengths Assessment
Remote - Two one-hour sessions scheduled approximately 3-4 weeks apart.

Intended Audience: Geared toward the individual who desires to know how to use their natural talents more effectively and/or identify talent areas to strengthen.
The CliftonStrengths Assessment is a tool that helps individuals to discover their natural talents, which in turn helps them to understand how they view and approach the world around them. The philosophy behind managing to strengths is that individuals that can use their talents in their everyday lives are 6x as likely to be engaged in their work, and 3x as likely to report an excellent quality of life. Investing in talent development provides a much greater return than trying to fix weaknesses.
Key Elements:
- Identification of natural talents using the CliftonStrengths Assessment.
- Two one-hour debrief sessions are included so that participants understand how to use and build their talents as a part of their emotional intelligence toolkit.
- Assessments and debrief sessions are remote.
Deliverables: Receive a formal report with feedback related to 34 talent areas.
Individual Leadership Coaching
Remote - Six months estimated timeframe. Sessions will be scheduled at a frequency applicable to the development plan and desired goals.

Individual coaching starts with the CliftonStrengths Assessment described above, and includes other assessments as indicated by needs identified with the coachee.
Key Elements:
- Identification of natural talents using the CliftonStrengths Assessment
- Identification of Personal and Professional Opportunities
  - 360 Interviews with key individuals of your choosing to help identify needed focus areas.
  - Review of past performance appraisals, behavioral assessments, or other completed assessments
  - Review of current performance goals.
  - Access to other professional assessment tools.
- Development of a Plan
  - Create a personal and professional development plan including actionable metrics for tracking progress.
- Specific Coaching Support
  - Regularly scheduled and structured coaching sessions to review goal progression and/or identify barriers to achievement.
  - Ad hoc brainstorming support as needed.
- Real-time Expertise and Support
  - Customized to your needs as identified; supplemental learning resources as needed to support your desired growth.
- Updates and Measurement Tools
  - Tools to monitor your progress so you can share updates with your leadership.
Deliverables:
- Identification of personal and professional opportunities.
- Development of an implementation plan with measurements and milestones for achievement.
- Scheduled and/or on-demand support.
- Application and tools, assessments, and resources to assist you in your development.
Career Coaching
Remote - up to six months’ timeframe. Sessions are conducted at a pace suitable to you.

Similar to Individual Leadership Coaching, Career Coaching starts with a Clifton Strengths Assessment and debrief, and includes other assessments that are determined by CBA, Inc.

- Compilation of background and experiences to define the roles and responsibilities of interest to you.
- Identification of needs, wants, interests, and desires in a career path.
- Development of a personal mission statement.
- Application of talents to leadership skills and traits.
Deliverables:
- Creation of a personalized career map to guide career development both short and long term.
- Identification and analysis of job posting and support in the application process including resume, cover letter writing, and interview coaching.
Bulk Coaching Hours
Intended Audience: Applicable to all audiences.
Additional coaching support may be purchased at an hourly rate or in blocks of 10 hours at a discounted hourly rate.

Catherine Baumgardner, PhD, MHA, FACHE

Dr. Baumgardner is an experienced healthcare executive with nearly 30 years of day-to-day operational experience and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. She has a vibrant consulting practice in leadership and organization development with an emphasis on executive and physician leadership coaching, where she applies her skills as a Gallup Certified Clifton Strengths Coach. Dr. Baumgardner’s areas of research interest include organization development, strategic planning, workforce engagement, change leadership, and human resources issues related to talent management, recruitment, and retention.

Catherine has a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from The Pennsylvania State University in Workforce Education and Development, and is also a graduate of The Ohio State University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. She is on faculty at both The Pennsylvania State University as a Teaching Professor, and The University of Alabama at Birmingham as Adjunct Faculty. She is also resident faculty for the Pennsylvania Medical Society Physician Leadership Academy and provides physician leadership coaching to society members. Catherine is also passionate about customer engagement, having trained with the Disney Institute and the Ritz Carlton, and has applied this experience to many healthcare settings.

In addition to being a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, she holds memberships in the American Society of Healthcare Human Resources Administrators, and the American Society of Training and Development. Catherine is immediate past Chair of The Ohio State University Alumni Association Board of Directors, and a member of the Development Committee of The Ohio State University Foundation Board.

In her personal time, Dr. Baumgardner is an avid horsewoman, a gardener, and a voracious reader.
